Parents with learning difficulties are far more likely to lose custody of their children than other parents, despite having the same potential to be good parents as other people.

The Elfrida Society has been running groups for parents with learning difficulties for over 10 years and has had a specialised project to support parents with learning difficulties since September 2004.  Since this time, the project has received very positive feedback about the work being done both strategically and with individual parents.

Examples of one to one support –  making calls to benefit agencies, debt collectors, maternity services, legal advice, nursery schools, child protection services and more.  We also do work around court proceeding and child protection conferences.
